    Description
    1967 Chrysler Imperial Crown
Inspired by earlier designed Elwood Engel cars, the Imperial Crown was a motorcar of distinction. It was available as a two-door hardtop coupe, an elegant convertible, a four-door pillared sedan, and a four-door hardtop sedan. The 1967 Imperial Crown hardtop sedan synthesized elegance with a contemporary sporting appeal. From its massive front end styling to the custom tailored rear end design, it was totally unique, setting the stage for a dramatic entrance on any occasion.
Measuring in at a whopping 224.7 inches and this was downsized from previous models (!) and for consignment a beauty of a car with this 1967 Chrysler Imperial. A rebuilt original 440 4bbl there are plenty of convenience options to partake in while floating down the highway. This model was the first year for the unibody construction and weight reduction was also a major highlight. Our example has been painstakingly cared for, well maintained, and presents very nicely.
    Exterior
Large slabs of Detroit steel cover this car and make up its stately square knife blade design. With its electric shaver styled front flat grille, quad headlights and central I M P E R I A L badge, you are making a statement with your arrival. Lantern style cornering lamps are adorned with engraved winged eagles, and surrounded by extensive but tastefully reserved chrome trimmings and large bumper below. Silver metallic was one of the more tasteful colors available in this time era, and this paint is retaining its previous respray shine and depth. On top is a wonderfully textured black vinyl top to contrast the silver. This is nice and tight, and very clean. 4 straight doors with well minded gaps are between the front and rear quarters and allow easy access for all passengers. The ersatz sport tire bulge on the rear deck lid is now gone, replaced by full width tail lamps which span the back of this land yacht. The coup de grace the fender skirts, all add in for a car with wonderfully poised dignity.
    Interior
With the initial opening of the door you know you are in for a treat with just the look of the door panels. Utilizing exotic wood appliqu, some molded vinyl, chrome and dark gray speckled carpeting, there are enough toggles and buttons for the driver to keep him occupied all day. Power windows, power vent windows, power trunk release, power antenna, power locks, and fully adjustable driver's and passenger's power seats. Even the exterior mirror is joystick adjustable from the inside, because after all reaching out to do so manually is not only dangerous, but so pedestrian! Slipping inside your body will be enveloped by overstuffed and over wide black leather which has aged beautifully. In front design simplicity abounds with an angled tray style dash, more wood appliqu, and some futuristic toggles for all controls, otherwise things are hidden for the uber clean look. On the dash top, is a rare headlight sentinel to see dim high beams with the notice of oncoming traffic. The original signal seeking AM/FM radio with a flipper switch and now an aftermarket 6 CD player will calm your nerves while you try to appease your wife as to the interior temperature. Cruise control is noted to be installed, and a telescoping tilt steering wheel/column is fronting this sleek contemporary styled mid century modern dash. A/C comes to us with a new R134A conversion so it blows ice cold. On the floors is pristine condition dark gray wide loop pile carpeting, and above is a nice tight headliner in black. You'd better hasten you're getting here as I'm ready to sign a long term lease to move in!
    Drivetrain
Our fine example of this 1967 Imperial is powered by the formidable 7.2 litre 440 CID 16-valve Wedge-Head OHV V8 engine that cranks 350hp @ 4,400 rpm. It is equipped with a Holley 4 bbl carburetor, automatic choke, and mechanical fuel pump. This normally aspirated engine is mated to a 3-speed TorqueFlite A727 automatic transmission with planetary gearset and torque converter. As you may see, the Imperial is a luxury sedan with the heart of a true MOPAR. Essentially an "executive hot rod!"
    Undercarriage
Full on unibody construction gives this car a great weight loss, and much more maneuverability. Underneath this baby we note some surface rust but it's purely cosmetic. An overall paint covers steel floor pans and rockers. Torsion bar for the front suspension, and leaf springs for the rear provide the cloud-like ride. Power disc brakes are on front, and power drums for the rear.
    Drive-Ability
A simple turn of the key and the MOPAR fired right up. It idles almost silently, and as I slipped it into gear I was still playing with all the controls. Nice smooth endless acceleration, bias free panic stopping, and good handling for a large car are solid features of this particular automobile. All convenience functions were working swimmingly.
This 1967 Imperial Crown four-door vinyl covered hardtop sedan has an interior as elegant and sophisticated as its exterior. Genuine wood accents throughout compliment the opulent leather coverings. It came standard with all of the luxury amenities of the period. This Imperial is so posh and effortlessly automatic, that all I had to do was steer and operate the pedals...the car did almost everything else for me. So simple even my Motrhead decoder can drive it with a mere hour of pre drive instruction. But I digress.
