HALLMARK ARTIST ORIGINAL WATERCOLOR OF OLD WEST COWBOYS - ART CARLSON

Description

This is a wonderful original watercolor by Hallmark artist Art Carlson (1939-1993).  Carlson painted this as an illustration for a calendar he wanted to do, but from the research I've done, Hallmark never produced the calendar.  As you'll see from Carlson's note on the back, if his calendar idea wasn't accepted, he believed the artwork would make a good Father's Day card.
Carlson graduated from the Ringling College of Art and Design, Sarasota, Florida, in 1966.  An exceptionally talented artist, he was hired right out of college by Hallmark and worked there until his death from cancer.  I acquired this watercolor a few years ago from a Kansas City estate sale of a Hallmark employee who worked with Carlson.  As I've never gotten around to hanging it on the wall, I figure it's time to pass it on to someone else to enjoy.
Condition:  Very good-plus.  Some very light soiling to the extreme edge of paper.  Colors are bright and beautiful.  The watercolor is on heavy-weight illustration board.  Measures 13 x 14 inches.
